Smile Campaign Evaluation and Final Product (Advert and Podcast)

 After I had finished my production and post production, I had to write an evaluation of the entire project, explaining my ideas and what I thought of the final product that I created.

Podcast Production Resources

  Microphones For the podcast we will be using a Rode NT1A microphone to record the episode. It is a large diaphragm condenser microphone. This type of microphone is appropriate as  it is suited to record studio vocals- as opposed to a handheld microphone which is most suited for vocals outside of the studio. Recording vocals on a diaphragm condenser microphone will make the vocals clearer on the track. In our last podcast we used a dynamic microphone to record- there are a few differences between these two mics. The main difference is that a dynamic microphone is better for capturing loud sounds- such as drums or loud vocals, whereas a condenser microphone is used to capture more delicate sounds- like studio vocals. A condenser will be better suited for this recording as we will be recording the episode in a studio, and it will be able to pick up the vocals better than a dynamic microphone. Defining Target Audience

 Defining my target audience. I created a survey centered around mental health in aid of working on the smile campaign. I will use these survey results to help me create my advert. I have received numerous responses which I will review and use to define my target audience. I will also use these results to create an audience profile. An audience profile is often described as a fictitious character that is created or modelled after members of your target audience. Audience profiles can be created by taking data you have gathered from a form or survey that quite a lot of people have filled out to fully understand your target audience. When I created the survey I took into account the different types of people who would struggle with mental health. There is no certain group of people who struggle with mental health as everyone at some point in their lives struggle with it, no matter their age, gender or employment status. Pre-Production-Script and Storyboard and Shooting Schedule

To start pre-production, I wrote a script for my advert using the program CeltX. This program helps format any scripts into Master Scene Script- which is the most commonly used format of scripting in tv. I have thought out the scenes of my advert and explained them in this script. I have not included camera angles, as I will do this in the storyboard. After writing my script I drew out a storyboard to convey the ideas about the scenes that will be in my advert. I added text under the boards of drawing to describe what was going on in each scene. I also included arrows in the boxes to show which way the camera would pan, and which way the characters would move. I wrote in the text boxes which camera angles I would use, and attempted to convey those in the drawings too. I also completed a shooting schedule so that I am able to know what days I will be shooting each scene. I created an alternative shooting schedule just in case I could not film on one of those days.
