Canon Campaign Production Diary

Today I took the photos I would need for this campaign. I had the model standing, holding a ripped piece of paper with words relating to mental health- as if showing ripping through the struggles of mental health. I used a Canon eos 400D camera to take these photos- and I used the studio room light rather than a spotlight- so that the models face was not too bright in the photos.

Today I started editing the photos on photoshop. I copied the best image over from my SD card. I combed through the images and chose the one that had the best lighting and the best look to me. I started by lightening some of the areas of the image- and with feedback from my lecturer I started to make word art to go over the top of the paper rather than the printed words that were already on the paper. I started off doing this by using the clone stamp tool to extend the paper- as there were pieces of the original background in the corners of the image. I then used the magnetic lasso tool to select the edges of the ripped paper and the models hands- which I inverted. I got the word art that I created, copied it and then pasted it into place in the selection. This caused the word art image to paste only in the selected parts- leaving the models face and hands visible.

Today I continued working on editing my photos in photoshop. I aimed to create another version of the product, so that I could choose the best of the two to use as my final product. I used the same methods that I used last week, and included the Canon logo and a tagline- which I also added to the first version. I also took another photo of the models face to put over the old photo- as the face was out of focus.
