Smile Campaign Post Production Diary

27/01/22  After filming my footage for my advert I had to select pieces of footage from what I shot. I shot multiple videos of the scenes so that I would be able to choose the best shots. To do this I went through all of the shots I filmed for each scene and analyzed them to see which ones would be best. I had to take into account how shaky each shot was- if the shots were blurry and whether or not there were any members of the public in the shot (for the park scene). After I chose which shots would be in my final product I started to edit. For the first scene I had to edit in a repeating Teams notification sound (as the first scene was the character getting stressed at the amount of notifications they were getting for work) as I did not want to have the original audio from the footage- as there was a lot of background noise. The plan for the advert is to have some calming music in the background throughout the advert anyway- so using the original footage audio with clash with the ...

Canon Rationale

For this campaign I had to make a rationale- so that I could show it to a small focus group and get their feedback on it. Unfortunately I did not get any written or recorded feedback but I did get verbal. The focus group mentioned that my rationale was good- and that my idea for the campaign was unique.

Canon Brief

For the Canon Brief we had to complete research on the client and the audience for the campaign. I completed the research for both of these. I used the Canon brief key pointers PowerPoint on the Canon channel on teams to help me research my audience as the key pointers from this PowerPoint helped me to do this. I also researched existing products to gain some insight on what typical adverts looked like for this company so that I would know what to include in my print advert to make it look similar to existing Canon adverts.

I will go through each of these recordings and narrow it down to the best footage that was taken once I have recorded the rest of the scenes, which should be done by the end of next week.   For the first day of filming I used a Canon camera for the shots- and I used a shoulder level shot as I followed the actress into the classroom.   I had the actors following the script directly so that the scene was as scripted and I managed the actors effectively.   I believe the actual shot went well- as well as filming multiple shots so that I could pick the best one once I start to edit the footage- however I believe I could've filmed more shots so that I had more options- but I did not so that the actors did not feel overworked and get tired of filming. I will include some behind the scenes footage of the col...
